Peter Cooke Joins HCA Healthcare’s State of the Art Harborne Hospital in 2024

Peter Cooke will be conducting robotic prostatectomy surgery at the state-of-the-art Harborne Hospital, starting in Spring 2024. Harborne Hospital, the latest addition to HCA Healthcare UK’s portfolio, has recently opened its doors in the heart of Birmingham.

This cutting-edge facility aims to revolutionise private healthcare in the West Midlands by amalgamating top-tier consultants, groundbreaking technologies, and modern amenities to elevate patient care standards. With an investment of £100 million, the hospital offers swift access to comprehensive healthcare services catering to various levels of complexity. From primary care to diagnostics and from outpatient treatments to intricate surgeries, the hospital boasts a team of leading consultants covering a spectrum of specialties such as cancer, cardiac care, orthopaedics, urology, and digestive diseases. Situated within the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, Harborne Hospital operates in collaboration with University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust. A portion of its infrastructure, comprising two floors and 72 beds, is exclusively designated for NHS patients, managed by UHB.

Harborne Hospital seeks to address this demand by providing unparalleled services to approximately 10% of the region’s population with Private Medical Insurance or those who opt for self-payment. The facility boasts 50 private en-suite inpatient beds, 16 day care beds, advanced outpatient services, four state-of-the-art operating theaters, a fully equipped day-care unit offering outpatient chemotherapy and radiotherapy services, an onsite pharmacy, and a specialised intensive treatment unit for round-the-clock critical care.

Equipped with cutting-edge technology, Harborne Hospital houses the region’s first da Vinci Xi system in the private sector, enabling minimally invasive complex surgeries. Additionally, the hospital features the latest CT and MRI scanners, ultrasound, X-ray including digital fluoroscopy, 3D mammography, and access to a radiotherapy linear accelerator, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
