Peter Cooke has been featured this June in the Daily Mail’s list of Britain’s Best Urologists for his hard work, caring nature and excellent technique as a surgeon.
The list was compiled by the Daily Mail, who spoke to around 40 urologists from around the country asking them: “If your own nearest and dearest were to need treatment in your field, to whom would you refer them — and why?”.
The consultants with the highest number of votes were then featured on the list – including Peter Cooke, who works at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton and also at the BMI The Priory Hospital in Birmingham, Nuffield Health Wolverhampton.
Peter was described as being an “excellent surgeon and a really nice, caring chap who is technically very good and works very hard, constantly trying to improve his results.”
Peter responded to being placed on the list of Britain’s best urologists, saying:
“I am delighted to see national recognition for many years of dedication to improving prostate cancer services in Wolverhampton, and my pursuit of surgical technical excellence. I have led the development of the surgical team, and our success has not gone unnoticed. Our feedback from patients has been excellent.
I constantly strive to improve every aspect of prostate cancer care, from initial GP referral, right through the diagnostic and surgical pathway to long term post-treatment follow up. My roles as Urology Clinical Director, Multi-disciplinary team Chair, Cancer Board member, West Midlands Expert Advisory Group member, and Black Country STP Cancer Lead all reflect my commitment to developing local and regional services.”
Congratulations to Peter and to the other urologists featured on the list. As of November 2017, there were 1083 Consultant Urological Surgeons in the UK, so to be named in the top twenty is a great achievement and excellent recognition of their success and hard work.
